Kountze the town without -
12/4/2020 So many little historic Texas towns are full of beauty, attractions, quaint stores, historic town sites to stroll and shop. Towns that show pride and offer reasons to return often. Not Kountze. This town is the county seat, that alone would make you think "wow"! But, no such luck. No quaint downtown with interesting shops and diners. No historic markers, nothing to show small town pride. Its sad because there is so much to offer in this area. Big Thicket, a world class biosphere. Village creek, an awesome creek for great canoe adventures with canoe rentals. Birding, wildlife, the town is over 100 years old! History happened here! Yet all you see in Kountze is gas stations, broken down empty buildings, unkept property. Very little to entice anyone to come vist. Pretty sad for the county seat. Pretty sad for a centry old Texas town. You see towns like Justin, ColdSpring, Jefferson, all leave you with the desire to come back. Kountze, its just a place to drive thru on your way to somewhere else. Maybe someday.......
