Knoxville, TN

re:
OK on paper, but ultimately not the town - 6/3/2019
I think a definite amount of detail placed in this thoughtful investigation. But there are some things to note:

1) Knoxville is much larger than Brentwood. This is going to affect the type of experience one has with the locals based on certain areas, and as time progresses, these places change. I could certainly recommend areas in Knoxville to stay away noting that friendliness goes downhill quickly in Knoxville vs. Brentwood. This is going to affect other areas as well such as crime and traffic. Knoxville has a much higher crime rate than Brentwood, and noting that it rests upon the major interstate that travels between one coast of the United States to the other, it will be much larger. Brentwood rests near I-65; while it has traffic for people going into Nashville, it still does not have the population of people competing for commute within the city. There are plenty of good schools in Brentwood (granted as of late, there are Brentwood schools that are surrounded in controversy), and there are good schools in Knoxville (in the different parts), as well as surrounding areas (Oak Ridge and Maryville).

2) Knoxville has its share of churches. If one visits one and finds the people less than friendly, don't mistake that for snobbishness and unfriendliness; some people are shy and introverted. Be warm for a few visits and visit around.

3) The road system in Knoxville is challenged, which plays into discussion of the traffic previously discussed. However, that's East TN for the most part. Compare this to West TN which has superior roads typically. And while Nashville has plenty of road system, it's terrible to navigate. Any time you have large populations, there are going to be problems; its where people should pay attention to the skills of the government officials they are electing based on their abilities to address this. This becomes much more painfully obvious on the back roads even in East TN.

4) Knoxville is much more of a zealous town than Brentwood, and even Nashville when college football is in season. Noting that Brentwood is being discussed, however it isn't comparable; it is a quiet town in comparison.

5) Mentioning the education system, most of the school systems, being public in Brentwood, are probably better funded than the majority in Knoxville. However, noting the private school systems were discussed, that isn't really important to discuss.

6) Brentwood has a growing job market, so that's a plus in its favor, but of course noting Knoxville's size, its easy for opportunity to occur in Knoxville.

7 ) Knoxville has the mountains. Knoxville has lakes. Brentwood, and for the most part, most of Nashville area does not have any of such. Certainly one can travel a bit east of Nashville and hit the Savage Gulf or similar, but Knoxville has a short trip to Townsend, or if one is a tourist, a moderate trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. If one likes the attractions of larger cities over the mountains, then Brentwood wins for having access to Nashville. Knoxville isn't really comparable, but it has its attractions such as Market Square in the old city.

8) On the subject of mountains, Knoxville has plenty of hills with plenty of houses with basements. Brentwood and surrounding areas in Nashville typically do not have basements. Enjoy tornado weather.

Hopefully, that gives a bit more to consider with this discussion.
