Focus On the Positive - 9/14/2009
If your an optimistic person who is able to find beauty and positivity and not always focus on the worse of things than I'm sure you would be able to appreciate what Williamsport has to offer. As in just about any city you go there will always be great parts of the city and not so great parts. Williamsport has its very small share of crime, drugs, and poverty but there is many great aspects of the small city as well. There are nice parks to go to such as Brandon Park and Memorial Park that you can take your children to with brand new safe swing sets and play areas for your kids to enjoy. There are beautiful lakes and streams if your into nature. During the summers you can take your family to a Crosscutters baseball game and enjoy the fireworks afterwards or you can go to the Little League World Series where people from all over the world come to our town and enjoy the game. If you are pursuing an education we have two colleges here in town that can provide you with a great education. Lycoming College and Penn College of Technology with Lock Haven University in close proximity just 25 minutes away. The down town area has many new sources of entertainment such as the newly built movie theatre The Cinema as well as The Coffee and Tea Room where you can share a cup of coffee or tea with a friend, hold small meetings there, read, or sometimes enjoy the music of a small live band. We also have a beautiful, large Theatre known as The Community Arts Theatre downtown where stars from Bill Cosby to Clay Aiken to Gladys Night have come to perform. So not only does the city of Williamsport have some positive things to offer as far as education and entertainment in particular for college students and older folks but it also has a stream of beautiful, affordable, homes, many that are historic. West Fourth Street holds the most beautiful historic mansions you may ever see known as Millionaires Row. So instead of focusing on the bad aspects which every city has focus on the positive as well. I've lived here most of my life and I can tell you overall Williamsport is a good place to live, a great place to buy a beautiful home at a modest price, a decent place to get an education, and is a overall peaceful and safe place to raise your children.
