Progressive Changes in Transportation-Beltine, bus
- 5/31/2006
Atlanta developed during the era of the car but several progressive changes in transportation are happening in this city. The city of Atlanta is redeveloping a network of rail unused lines that form a loop around the city. This project, called "The Beltline," will have both a light rail train route and a bicycle path. (www.beltline.org/) As part of the Beltline initiative the city of Atl bought an old quarry and the surrounding land to build an enormous park and lake. Additionally public transportation agencies are being consolidated under one umbrella organization and bus services from the suburbs and exurbs of Atlanta are becoming more and more common. ATL is also becoming more bicycle friendly by having more and more bike paths and lanes. (www.atlantaregional.com/)

Great Weather Year Round
- 5/31/2006
Spring is a beautiful part of the year which last several weeks. Summer is not as hot as "Hotlanta's" reputation would like for it to be. It is often hotter in cities like New York, Miami, Phoenix and LA. One easily acclimates to the humidity in Georgia, which is much better for the skin than that of drier areas in the Western US. The heat quickly dissipates when it rains. In fact, Atlanta receives nearly 30% more volume of rain per year than Portland, OR or Seattle. The result is that everything is regularly fresh and green. Fall is cool and dry. Winter is an excellent time to do things outdoors and much more bearable than that of areas north of the city.
