Mexico, MO | 1 Review(s)

I was in the Mortgage Field services for twenty six years and after I sold my business I retired and decided to write about all my experiences, good, bad or indifferent.
I had made the decision that I would put it all in print and leave behind some facts to be revealed instead of "playing nice". I just wanted to let it all "hang out" and let the readers draw their own opinions.
I had decided that it was more fun to put people's stupidity in print than it was to get excited or upset about their very dumb behaviors. So, that is exactly what I started doing. I have written a few e books about Mortgage field services and they are "The Dirty Little Secrets" series. I am in the process of writing a few other " Dirty Little Secrets" e books about people and Missouri.
This is a fun adventure and I am enjoying every moment of it! But then, I have lived sixty four years , so I do have a lot of living to tell about.

Mexico, MO

Quality of Life or Lack There of. - 11/2/2010
Mexico Missouri use to be a very nice little community with activities and many businesses on the square. That was twenty five years ago. Now it is a ghost town of what once was.
The "old guard" (as many in Mexico refer to the long gone prominent citizens) is long gone and with them went the high quality of life that so many citizens enjoyed.
Today we have new commissioners and new business people. The difference is that today, the commissioners and business people only care about lining their personal coffers instead of the betterment of the community.
Gone are the days of the fantastic Soy bean festival with the "Outhouse" races" and the old Fiddler contests.
Gone is the Audrain county fair with the many chances for kids to compete for blue ribbons. Gone are the many stores on the square , where you could shop locally and knew who you were doing business with. Gone are the "old Guard" who worked relentlessly to bring a great hospital to this tiny community among many other wonderful feats.
Instead in their place we have a square that serves only to shuttle prisoners back and forth to the Kangaroo court that a biased judge enjoys lording over without any consideration of actual facts, if you can do a cute tap dance and lie through your teeth it carries weight in that court.
Gone are the prominent citizens of virtue and values. The A.P Greens, The Staleys, the Striblings, the Taylors and the Van Matres. Gone is the dignity and small home town values you were so proud to have acquired from Mexico. In it's place are people who can only think of one thing, and that one thing is making more of those almighty dollars.
In Mexico today, you have the handful of those who reap money any way they can buy cheating the hard working people and then you have the segment of that population who in fact are the hard working people. In between you have the citizens who have turned to drugs and alcohol and sexual exploitation.
Today Mexico is a shambles and just a long gone shadow of what it once was.
Most importantly now it is a symbol of what it will never again be.
There is nothing there for anyone who has morals and values any longer, so individuals with integrity leave.
Mexico is losing it's population at an alarming rate and still the city Dads could care less. The good people are leaving and the bad are staying, soon they will have only their own kind to feed off of and that should be interesting as we can stand back and watch the process of Mexico as it self destructs. Soon it will be no more than a bedroom community for retirees of a mixed sort.
