Santa Rosa, CA | 7 Review(s)

The photo is of my Rainbow Lory. His name is Buster and he goes with me almost everywhere. He's a lot of fun and as beautiful as a bird could possibly be. He's very intelligent. I hand fed him for the last three weeks so naturally, we are very close. The first six months of his life I would get up every morning and take the cover off his cage and say to him "come on up Buster and give me kisses". He would hurriedly pop up on the "kissing perch" and give me 'lots of kisses. One morning I uncovered his cage and he was already on the perch and he looked me right in the eye and said to me as plain as day, "come on up Boss and give me kisses". I was astounded to say the least. I never used the word boss in his presence or referred to myself as anything other than Daddy. He is just a joy to live with and we have so much fun together. Now he says several words and phrases, the newest one and it just killed me when I heard him say it is, I said to him "Buster is a really smart bird" and he immediately replied "I know". He is a loveable bundle of feathers and brains. If I tell him we're going bye bye tomorrow, the first thing he will say to me the next day is "Buster and Boss go bye bye in truck?"

Wow, Please move on and take your prejudice with you. You can look at the statistics under people and see just how much percentage of different races make up the city. You make Santa Rosa sound worse than L.A. Furthermore, I've lived in CA my entire life and don't even notice when a person is Mexican. They're no different than anyone else and don't cause any more problems than demented white folks like you. I live in a large apt. complex that is almost entirely Mexican-Americans and everyone is very friendly and courteous and there is NO problems with crime here. The children are especially cute and they love to see my bird Buster and hear him talk. Were ever you came from K you really need to go back, you have mental health issues.

I grew up in Chico and it is a very nice city of around 100,000 in the Northeast corner of the Sacramento Valley. It isn't nearly as nice as Santa Rosa though, and if you don't like it hot it's between 90 and well above 100 degrees for 4 months of the year. It's also out in the middle of nowhere, and a very inconvenient place to live if you like to travel. It's 100 miles North of Sacramento, 170 miles North of San Francisco, 500 miles North of Los Angeles, 500 miles South of Portland, OR, and 150 miles West of Reno, NV. If you like going to the beach for the day forget it. It takes 3 hours to get to the beach, so you'll have to pony up about $150.00 a night for an average motel near the beach. Same with Lake Tahoe, You could make the trip in about 2 hours and have a nice day, but it makes for a lot of driving and more than likely will be crowded if you go on a weekend day. Plan on spending $150.00 for an average motel in Tahoe as well. If you're a homebody and like being isolated then it would be a nice place to live, but it's not like Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is 55 miles North of San Francisco, 25 minutes to the beach, and non-stop flights to Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego. From any of those cities you can fly anywhere you want to in the entire world. Chico, not so much. 3 non-stops to San Francisco daily at inconvenient hours for meeting up with other flights from SFO. It's sad that so many people don't appreciate what they have and focus on negative things and exaggerate them. Happy traveling!

She's full of it, I think she is mistaken about her location. From her review she makes Santa Rosa sound like Los Angeles. Keep it real people, that's a bunch of B.S.

The houses on the east hills of the city are minimal and the view of the mountains is still gorgeous, there aren't that many homes up there but the ones that are make pretty lights for a night time view. I've lived here for three years now and she must have never lived anywhere with really "horrid" traffic, this city is very easy to drive in, and laid out to make finding things easy too. Just don't get on the freeway at rush hour, which lasts for a lot less longer than most anywhere I've lived including much smaller towns. If there's gang activity here I haven't seen it, seldom here of any crime, and if there's a bad neighborhood here I have no idea where it is. If there is one, just don't go there (why would you want to anyway)? This is a wonderful place to live with few if any negative attributes. I'd say she's one of those kind of people that just needs to move on in life and find another place to complain about.

This is typical for people with allergies in any agricultural area, not just here.

If you are so unhappy here and your view of our wonderful city has gotten this negative, then please leave, we don't want unhappy, negative people here.

One Of The Best Places To Live In California - 3/6/2013
I'm just going to write a short review because honestly, I signed up for an account so that I could comment on a very negative review I read on this beloved city. There are millions of people that would love to live here because it's so beautiful, the beaches, rocky and mountainous shore, Redwood groves, and vineyards galore. It is also the official city of The Peanuts Gang, the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, and there are a lot of statues of the characters around town. My favorite is Snoopy, but you'll find Charlie Brown and Lucy as well as others too. The scenery and the climate both are just spectacular. Nearby, in the small hamlet of Guerneville, you will find Armstrong Woods State Preserve, a gorgeous space of old growth Redwoods rising to well over 300 feet. I used to live a mile from the park and rode my bike there every day. So, this is just a short synopsis of how wonderful this area is, the people are friendly and everyone is accepted just as they are.
