Henderson, TN

Okay Small Town - 5/12/2015
Henderson is about 20 miles south of Jackson, TN and is although it is technically referred to as a 'city', it only has a population of about 5500 people. The primary draw of Henderson is the school district which is one of the better ones in the West Tennessee area. My daughter is special needs and the Chester County schools have done more for her than any of the other schools she has been in...I am very impressed and pleased!

Henderson has virtually no crime and if you want a large variety of stores to shop at, you are going to have to drive up to Jackson which is accessible through a highway. We do it multiple times a week since Jackson is not really a place we want to live in with the crime rate (see comments under the Jackson Sperling Views)--and this is coming from people who lived in the Detroit area for over a decade!

Henderson has a park for the kids, a couple of smaller grocery stores, and a few fast food restaurants. We have Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, and it is known for its teacher education program and being a Christian university.

One major downside about living here is that we don't have direct access to a major interstate freeway. We have to go up the 45 to (you guessed it!) Jackson to get on the I-40.

Henderson isn't a bad place to live if you don't mind a smaller, quiet town and can live with driving to a larger city 20 miles away (Jackson) or 95 miles away (Memphis) for things you can't find locally or if you want to take in some cultural attractions.
