Escanaba, MI

Climate - 5/29/2008
Escanaba, MI is located in the lower cenral part of the Upper Peninsular of Michigan. The area we live in is called the "banana belt", is located on Little Bay de Noc, a small bay on Lake Michigan. The weather is pleasant in the summer with temperatures between the low 70's to low 80's. There is usually a cool breeze, keeping the daytime high temperatures very comfortable. Very few homes have central air conditing, because our summers are from the end of June to the middle of September. Our winters vary from 15-25 inces of snow a year, compared to the upper part of the Upper Peninsular which averages between 50-65 inches of snow a year. The winter of 2008 was unusually cold and snowy. People that have lived here most of their lives said it was the worst winter in the past 11 years. So, be prepared for anything, that's why we are called the "banana belt". Overall, Escanaba (with an approximate population of 12,500.00)is a very beautiful area which definately has distinctive four seasons.
