1/14/2018Tampa is spread out. Although there are some nice parts to it, there are a lot of unsavory parts too, especially near the football stadium. Downtown is unimpressive also. I'm originally from Miami but have lived in Ohio and North Carolina also. About three years ago I spent some time in Tampa thinking maybe I wanted to move back to FL but maybe live in the Tampa area. That part of the state has some nearby places that are nice to visit, like Clearwater and St. Petersburg, but getting to these places over the bridges to access them presents heavy traffic. And of course there is the high humidity in the summer months too. If you can't stand that sticky feeling where you feel like you need to have a few changes of shirts during the day, rain and thunderstorms in the summer, you won't like the summer weather. There are historic areas in Tampa such as Ybor City, which brought an influx of immigrants in the late 1800s from Spain, Cuba and Italy. Tampa Bay is pretty, and there are some nice restaurants on the water there too. I'd say it's a nice area to visit but not to live.
