A great place to raise children and make friends -
1/29/2009With the beautiful 50-acre Lake Tranquility in town, there is a unique opportunity to meet many nice people and participate in events at Lake Tranquility, which has a nice sandy beach and a clubhouse for functions. These include a family pig-roast, family Christmas party, New Year's Eve for adults, and a huge July 4th picnic bash complete with fireworks and games for the young and old alike. There is a swim-team that competes with other lakes, and your child will love being part of it. My boys started at age four. The parents experience as much enjoyment as the kids do. Green is a closely-knit community, and people are friendly and help each other out. The natural beauty of the Allamuchy Mountains and the abundant cornfields in the town create a naturalistic environment. People here appreciate the natural beauty and are determined to preserve it. The kids spend much time outdoors in all seasons; riding their bikes into cornfields, cruising on four-wheelers in the mountain trails, hiking, skiing, ice-skating on the lake in winter; fishing and swimming and floating in the summer. People tend to live here for a long time once they move in, and those who must move out are sorry to so, because this is paradise. But, if you have an intense hatred of snow, you will not like the winters unless you learn to enjoy it. Have fun with some of the nicest and truly caring people in this gem of a township. Our taxes are a bit high, but we have no industry. It is worth the cost for the clean air, clear well-water, and preserved environment.
