9/3/2021Freeport is still a gem. It’s a gem that simply needs to be shined up a little. All over the world people are forced into paying $2550-$5000 a month for apartments that in some cases are the size of closets. Hong Kong's housing situation is so bad that they have caged housing and the people literally rent dog cages to live in. In Freeport, a person can own their own huge 5-bedroom house for less than $80,000. In a town that has tons to offer no less. Name a another (GOOD) town that can offer that in America. A 1 hour and 55 min road trip in any direction leads you to many beautiful places such as Chicago's lakefront, Milwaukee's lakefront, Wisconsin Dells. and hundreds of other things. Also unheard of in most places. It is the perfect town. But some of the most beautiful things can be seen right here in Freeport. I love the waterfall. Chicago doesn't even have a waterfall. Most places don’t have a waterfall. Freeport is actually older than Chicago but seems to get overlooked because of the fact that most people think of Chicago when planning trips to Illinois. Freeport is a secret goldmine waiting to be found. It’s in the perfect location for a town to flourish. To become a better town, all Freeport really needs is an Amazon, some type of resort, the few abandoned houses sold and fixed up and a few more streets paved. Freeport is a beautiful town with a lot of potential. The retail business is dead everywhere, that’s not the towns’ fault. It’s the internet’s fault. But nonetheless those empty buildings are opportunities for growth. It’s not as if, those are vacant lots they're empty buildings. That is a good thing. The American dream is alive and well here in Freeport. Jane and John Doe can move here to Freeport, comfortably buy a house, rent a cheap storefront and start a business, feed their kids, and still have money left to put in the bank. That's also unheard of during this day and age. Freeport is great.
