Phoenix, AZ | 4 Review(s)

Born, raised in South Sacramento, California. Lived most of my adult life until 43 in southern California, relocated to Cheyenne, WY, for 4 years, Aurora, CO, for 8 years, stayed briefly in Tulsa, OK, and then moved to Phoenix, AZ, in late 2015 where I currently reside. These were all primarily work-motivated relocations and not because my wife or I considered any of these locations ideal for us.

I met my second wife in Riverside, California. She was born at Nellis AFB in Nevada and moved to Perris, California, at a very young age where she grew up in what was then a rural location.

I have two adult children, an adopted daughter living in San Jacinto, California, and another, younger daughter by my first wife living nearby in Homeland, CA.

My wife has a son living in Colorado and a married daughter with a son living in Phoenix. We are an interracial couple (black-white), and have, unfortunately, experienced some unique and uncommon challenges living in the various places we have tried to settle in so-called post-racial America.

I have worked in television broadcasting as an Engineer most of my life and my wife has worked as a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician most of hers. We are planning to retire in early 2025, and are searching for our "ideal" retirement location.

Aurora, CO

Not a bad place to live - 3/2/2012
We came here from southern California via Cheyenne, WY, and have lived here for five years now. I would say nearly everything-- entertainment and cultural venues, educational institutions, eateries, etc.-- about Aurora is OK, average, bordering on just plain boring, not terribly exciting or outstanding in any way at all, but not bad, either. (Oh, the drivers here are completely retarded and drive according to whatever the inner voices tell them to do). Aurora has been a good stopping off place, but we haven't found any convincing reason to stay here in a place this committed to mediocrity.

I would concur with all of these observations.

Cheyenne, WY

Uninhabitable flyover territory - 3/2/2012
If you are white, ignorant, racist, stupid, and hopelessly conservative politically, and you love having the wind blowing hard constantly and having absolutely nothing to do, and you don't mind having no decent restaurants to eat at, no entertainment or cultural venues whatsoever, you don't mind living 150 miles from the nearest major airport and from any professional sports venue, then you will LOVE living in Cheyenne. Contrary to what I was told about a million times while I lived there, this is NOT a good place to raise children, and the cost of living without the state income tax is NOT cheaper than comparable locations in the US. There may be no state income tax (there's a reason for that), but you have to pay a hefty Boredom Tax. Unless you meet these criteria, I would run the other way if you are considering moving to this town.
