Cute town -
4/2/2018This is a nice little town, 13 miles from Montpelier, another little town. It has a wonderful library and a great sense of community. There are nice hiking trails in the area and you can get to any number of natural areas to explore. There is a pizza joint in town. However, know that Vermont is full of retirees and there is not much to do for kids. People have to drive and drive to get to any activities such as malls, restaurants and movie theaters. People move here to homestead and raise goats. Vermont has a high cost of living and despite the fact that it is a dairy state, milk is close to $5 gal. (I guess we can thank Wisconsin for that.) The school system is great until the 8th grade. Then most people opt for the lottery for the more competitive schools around, or move for a few years. There are not very many jobs and Vermonters hold onto them forever once they find one, so there's not much turnover. It's a quiet place to raise a family and there is no traffic. Don't count on making many friends though. People keep to themselves and they have to look at you at the gas station for 15 years before they acknowledge you. Socializing is rigid and they make it a point of pride not to accept anybody new.
