Atlanta, GA

re: Help me on my decision to relocate to Atlanta?
- 2/1/2011
I have lived in the Atlanta area for almost twenty years now.
My first comment about the posts here...
If Atlanta is so crappy, its because of the type of people who are posting here. A city is what you make of it. If you are negative, then negative feedback is what you get!
Bad traffic??? c'mon....name one populated place anywhere in the world that DOESNT have bad traffic.....as if NYC or LA is car driver paradise.
As for the people, you newbies arrive with the most horrible negative attitude about the locals and are constantly looking around to prove YOUR negative stereotypes about "rednecks" or "blacks"....
The impartial truth of Atlanta is......the "rednecks" are just like all the white folks everywhere else in the usa.....the "blacks" are the REAL southerners and most of you re-los have never had to wave at a "black" neighbor, or ask a "black" for directions, or work with FOR a "black" man. Back up North and out West......"black" is a tiny minority. In the South...."black" is everywhere.
Its funny to watch all the self ritghteous north-easterners flock to North Fulton or Buckhead.... telling themselves that these are the only decent places to live.....what they are really saying is....these are the "whitest" places to live. The "southern" areas of town scare them.
OK...thats off my chest.
Atlanta is a Great Place to Live and if you dont find any thing that appeals to you here, its because you are close-minded and are not trying to join the community here. Atlanta has great neighborhoods, great schools, great opportunities, and our roads are BETTER than the rest of the country's. When you move here make sure that you ignore the hype and explore around......there is a big world out there beyond the "Perimeter".

Where inthe world is Acworth? - 2/1/2011
If you are thinking of moving to Atlanta and are reading comments here....
Acworth is a town in the NW corner of Cobb County. When Cobb County was first staked out for settlement, in 1832, NYC was already over 200 years old!
Everything in Acworth appears to be new....the neighborhoods, the roads, the schools....the people(they come here from all over the world)....
There actually is an old town where the RR line runs....this MainLine connects Chattanooga to Atlanta(Acworth-Kennesaw-Marietta-Smyrna-Atlanta). Downtown Acworth looks kinda foo-foo on one side of the tracks, while the other side still languishes with its old abandonned warehouses and shops.
I'd say the schools are as good as schools are anywhere(the bad school-good school media hype is just snobbery....your child will be safe in acworth, make'em do their homework!)
This is a great place to make your mark on the world, just by living here.....
