A cost comes with living within close proximity to -
6/17/2007I live in Crofton, MD, which is approximately 25 miles east of Washington, DC, 22 miles south of Baltimore and nine miles west of Annapolis. As you can see, Crofton is a very centrally located community providing access to the three cities I mention. Such close proximity provides access to many activities, whether they be city oriented or more aquatic, e.g. Annapolis. I've enjoyed living in the area, but a drawback is the cost of living is high. The cost of housing has grown exponentially in the last five years to the point that I don't know how so many people can afford half a million dollar homes, which isn't getting you much more than a modest 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 home in the burbs. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but for a decent single family home in a average subdivision, that is what it will cost. The cost of housing alone has made me reconsider calling the DC area home, as numerous attractive cities provide quality life for a fraction of the housing cost.
