Gardena, CA
Would love some suggestions about living in or aro -
1/24/2011My husband has a job opportunity in Gardena. We're considering leaving Seattle for the first time in our lives and moving to LA. We love our home and neighborhood, but see this as an opportunity to stretch ourselves and have an adventure. Wondering if anyone has some suggestions about neighborhoods that are family friendly, affordable, close to Gardena, with good middle/high schools. I'd like my husbands commute to be less than 30 minutes. Appreciate your input.

Seattle is a great place to live, even if it is ex -
1/17/2008I think there are so many positive things to say about living in Seattle. 1. The air in Seattle is very clean and fresh,
2. Our summers are wonderful, not too hot or cold, stays light out until nearly 10:00 pm, days cool down quickly at night
3. Our downtown is clean, active, and fun to visit/stay
4. We have an exciting professional football and baseball team which really connect with the community
5. My neighborhood in Seattle feels like a small town where I know and care about lots of people
6. Seattlites really care about the environment and our city government makes it easy/desirable to recycle household waste
7. Seattle is surrounded by water and mountain ranges, the beauty at our doorstep is astonishing
8. Home of Starbucks, Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Alaska Air
9. Highly educated population, very liberal, use the library
Now for some of the downsides:
1. Cost of living is very high, but not as bad as San Francisco, Boston and other desirable/livable cities
2. Our public schools are a mixed bag, good private school options
3. Seattle Art Museum is a nice building without a lot of art
4. Traffic is congested and political willpower to do something about it is lame
5. Winters are pretty dark and grey, hard to get used to
6. Spring time can be rainy, but at least the days are longer
7. A Bush supporting Republican might feel a bit picked on
