*sentiment. And I thought of sharing a little bit about what you can do in Vegas.

Unless you're a gambling/mall/concert maniac, there isn't much to enjoy. Especially if you're from a state like California, used to recreational activities out in nature and booming farmer's markets. Granted, Vegas does feature farmer's markets but they're small scale compared to the vibrant festivals in California. Doesn't help that most of the produce comes from California.

The legendary Red Rock Canyon is a great, affordable attraction. You can journey to Mount Charleston too. The Downtown Summerlin promenade provides a crowd much quieter and saner than the throngs of drunken, crabby people on the Strip.

It rains about 2% of the year. A lot of people hate the rain, but if you're in the minority like me, Vegas won't be for you.

For affordable eats, enjoy Cafe Rio's hearty portions or Wingstop's unbeatable chicken. Gordon Ramsay provides exquisite food for those looking for an expensive dining experience. The Leone Cafe in Tivoli is a bustling, charming delight with attentive staff. Fruits & Roots smoothie joints offer delicious, healthy goodies. Other than that-

The storms of monstrously rude people, the amount of traffic accidents, the absence of community spirit, the absence of seasons and the weak list of activities makes Vegas a very poor place to live. Even more so if you're from California, like me. Every state has its rotten spots, I know, but try comparing Sonoma County, Newport Beach or Corona del Mar to Las Vegas and you'll understand where I'm coming from. And yes, people in expensive California cities are stuck up and stuffy, but plastic's much better than trash.

Complaints about heavy traffic are common for every city, but since so many adore Vegas, I'll just go ahead and say it: it takes 30 mins to go a 10-15 min distance. If not longer. If you're on the bus, it'll take you 40-45 mins to go a 15 min distance during high traffic.

There are so many fatal traffic accidents here, injury attorneys must have an income that rivals a bartender's and card dealer's income. The attorneys probably make more than the police.

For the most part, people are incredibly unfriendly, and it's a sentinent shared by many that move from other cities to Vegas. People from Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington and California have told me how disappointed they are in the ugliness of Vegas citizens.

If you're from California, Washington or any state that fosters a strong community spirit, moving to Vegas will be an excruciating culture shock. Moving from a city like Huntington Beach, California to Vegas would be like moving from a palace into a cardboard box, in terms of community spirit, recreational activities and just life.

When it comes to the job market and overall economy, to each his own. Plenty of information awaits online for you, and it's up to you to make the call.

If you're not a sex fiend, a mall hopper, alcoholic or gambling fanatic, you'll find very little to do in Vegas. Malls feature nothing but the usual chain stores. Boutiques don't exist-at least not California-esque boutiques.

Pros: Henderson and Summerlin areas are quiet and family friendly. Libraries are great sanctuaries. Vegas has a lot of juice and smoothie bars.

Cons: Everything else.
