Don't ever move to Lodi! - 7/26/2019
Born at a hospital in Stockton, raised in Lodi for all 18 years of my life. I'm moving to Sacramento in a couple months, because I need to move on and change. Now, when I get asked what city I'm from when I'm traveling, or if I chat online with other people, I just normally say I'm from Stockton because Lodi is so small that most people in SoCal as well as some in Sacramento and definitely from out of state wouldn't know wtf I'm talking about! If people still don't know what I'm talking about when I say Stockton, I give up, because nowhere people almost universally know is anywhere near Lodi. I hate it here, because for one thing, there's pretty much nothing fun to do here, and two, almost everybody's a christian with right wing views (eg. Young earth creationists, republicans, conservative democrats...) I don't have a problem with that). But my problem is that many of them, especially old guys are sort of like on a mission to get everybody to believe in the word of god, and if you say you disagree, they'll still keep pestering you until you finally get your @$$ to church! And if you're an atheist, or a liberal, you're "persecuting" them because you disagree, and it hurts their feelings! Kind of like the south, but without Confederate flags. They're rude and cliquish, and since there's nothing to do, how bout go get a water at Starbucks and sit down and write a rap complaining about Lodi, or the whole 209/Stockton region! People have gotten upset with me when I told them I'm moving out of Lodi this year, probably because most people who grow up here move to Sacramento, San Francisco, LA, Tucson, you name it, and then 2 years later move back to Lodi and grow old here because they feel like their parents and old high school friends will be happy! Because they think growing up in Lodi means you belong there, when in reality, your hometown is often not the place that that you should live in, even if, and especially if it's a comfortable town with under 100k people and nothing fun. Lodi's one and only "mall" is just a tiny shopping center with a dollar tree and a pizza place and an ace hardware store. Sacramento has awesome restaurants and bars and malls and the people are cool and the women are hot! You won't find much $#it like that in Lodi!

re:
Sacramento, best place to live in Califor - 6/23/2019
I live in a town called Lodi, with under 70k people, and am getting ready to move to Sacramento in the fall because I have limited options for fun in my town. I visit Sacramento about once a week, sometimes more or less, because I can't find fun in Stockton, the nearest big city to my town. The people in my town and in Stockton are more miserable and aloof than in Sacramento, and most places in California, including SF and LA, because there's nothing to do, no nightlife, no good bike trails or other outdoor activities, too many McDonald's, hence more junk food and tv time and a higher obesity rate. And the people in my town are just dead inside.

You are on to something...I lived in Lodi my whole life but I'm getting ready to move to Sacramento in the fall. Like a lot of people in the south seem to be, many people in Lodi judge a person's worth by their politics/religion "damn leftists!" "You're an atheist? you're going to hell, buddy!" And any kind of thing like that and that's not all...

re:
Is Lodi for you?
- 6/23/2019
I currently live in Lodi, but am getting ready to move to Sacramento. Lodi is small, boring, and it's true that many people here can be weird. They seem to go out of their way to NOT talk to anybody unless it's somebody they knew since kindergarten! I don't get it; I DON'T want to talk to many people I knew back in the "old days." That's one of the biggest reasons I'm leaving for Sacramento. Sacramento is big, exciting, has a lot to do, cool coffee shops, and best of all, most of the people are actually welcoming to people they didn't know back in the day when they were still in school. The way you described my hometown is totally on point!
