Do NOT relocate to Towanda, PA!! -
6/8/2016I grew up here. there is NOTHING to do in this area. well, unless you drive 45 mins north, into NYS.
Towanda is known for the meth capitol of the north. NOW, it's starting to have a heroin problem.
The 3 main factories (DuPont GTP Masonite) are losing business and letting 100's of people go every 3 or 4 months. only to replace them as temps at just a little over minimum wage.
property taxes are the highest in the area.
Towanda is in a "dry county". Meaning, no alcohol sold in the stores.
The gas companies that came in an promised all these jobs and $$ 7 years ago; came and went.
3 deaths from shootings from employees of said gas companies.
there is nothing good here anymore (people or otherwise). Everyone is bitter, rude and just plain mean.
and before you say/think "oh it's like that all over"; i have lived in several (yes, several.) other states. this place is the WORST of all of them.
