Growing tooo fast -
5/30/2006Melbourne use to be a nice small town with all the amenities close by. Now it is growing too fast and it is too crowded. There are soo many people moving in and there is not enough room in the schools. The streets were also not planned for as much traffic as there is now. Wickham is a nightmare to drive down. At certain times of the day you may sit thru at least 3 lights just to get across an intersection.The drivers are extremely rude and do not pay attention to driving. If you take I-95 you are putting your life at risk. There are numerous crashes on a daily basis. The crime has incresed here so much that you cannot even feel safe leaving your windows open on a nice day or even your door unlocked because someone will break in, in the broad daylight. We also seem to have a lot of child predators in Melbourne and the surrounding cities. Even in the schools we have issues with inapproiate behavior amongst the teachers and children.It is just not very desirable anymore like it was 5 years ago. It is changing for the worst and I do not see any relief in site. The school system is ranked one of the best in the state but that is by the numbers from test scores and not by the quality of teachers we have in the Brevard county system.The better part of all the teachers I have come into contact with really need to chose another profession because they are not very good teachers and do not treat children well at all. But this is just my observation of the area in the last 5 yrs. If you do move here be patient and be careful.

Do you see many that come through Nashville or murfreesboro?

Considering a move..but not of the morman faith? -
3/4/2006I have looked at this area for many years and am considering moving here.I am not of the Morman faith and I do have school age children. I have got mixed reviews as to how the children are treated by others if they are not Morman. Is this true? I know there has been alot of growth in the area but my concern is my children. Please tell me if the religion factor has alot to do with the quality of life in that area? Please help..Thanks
