8/17/2018Relocated here after living in NYC my whole life. Real estate is very expensive for what you get, more so than many boroughs in NYC, but, the quality of life is not comparable. If you have kids, it is worth putting up with the high cost of housing. Other expenses are generally cheaper than NYC, and the great weather affords you the ability to enjoy the outdoors every day, unlike the frigid winters bogging down your mojo 8 months out of the year in NY. Carlsbad has the ambiance of a calm coastal community, vs the smothering feeling you get going anywhere in NY. I wish I would have moved here when I was 1, lol.
It can get boring at times, seeming as how every day is sunny and warm, for the most part. No torrential rainstorms followed by 100% humidity attacks of the north east.
Schools out here are great, which was a major contributing factor in moving here vs LA, which I actually preferred for my acting endeavors.
I tell my wife every day, that Carlsbad would be Frodo Baggins neighborhood, if he ever moved out of the shire.
Only cons I have so far in the 5 months I've been here: black widow spiders along the perimeter of my apt, the cost of housing, and the random swarms of fruit flys that always seem to sneak up on you when you're yawning ??.
