Hot Springs Village, AR
Happy then—-happy now! -
5/8/2020I feel I have a unique review of Hot Springs Village. We lived here 1994-2001 when our kids were in school. It was a very good experience at that time. Our kids went to Jessieville School of which we had no complaints. We felt safe enough to allow our kids to ride their bikes together and also go to the recreation center to play with their friends or swim in the public pool. We frequently took the kids to the lake beaches in the summer and boated on Lake Ouachita and Lakes Cortez and Balboa. We moved in 2001–back to Iowa for five years and then San Antonio, TX for 12 years. My husband retired a few years ago so we had been searching places to retire not wanting to stay in San Antonio due to the traffic and unrelenting heat. We couldn’t find a place that seemed better than Hot Springs Village considering housing costs etc. Sooo—we moved back to HSV four months ago and have no regrets! Our oldest son and family still live here so we do have family here. We are so much more physically active here with the walking trails and golf. Our dog thinks she lives in the wild here and acts as our protector from that which threatens us like squirrels, ground squirrels, lizards, armadillos, opossums, deer, and the many birds. We’ve met nothing but nice people here. Yes the shopping is limited but we do most of our shopping online anyway and did so in San Antonio too. There are many clubs and churches here. You can be as social as you care to be. We met a couple yesterday while out walking the trails who told us of a baby boomers club which has over 600 member. They have barbecues, group hikes, meetings at various restaurants here and in Hot Springs, floatillas on the lake , etc...etc. We are happy to be back and are looking forward to getting more involved socially as this nasty COVID -19 virus allows.
