Atlanta, GA

Not for the faint of heart - 5/16/2013
Atlanta, GA, much like Austin, TX, is a liberal haven in a red state. If you are from a blue state expect to read billboards stating such slogans as "Listen to talk radio 90.8 (fake), liberals HATE it!". Upon first arrival I was quite apprehensive about the jokes Atlanta DJ's would toss out, such as one using Ethiopian children as a punch line. While in a Walmart an older Caucasian woman began innocently enough by asking my opinion on which product was better before rolling out offensive anti-Jewish opinions without provocation. I was weirded out for the first year or two, often choosing to move closer to the city as I figured I'd have less run-ins with the old guard. Well, it's been almost 8 years now and I'm still offended and looking to move. If you're not bothered by peoples personal politics on race/ethnicity/culture or lack thereof, Atlanta will be a great place to live. It's cost of living is low in comparison to most large cities, there's an active club scene, and the job market isn't bad. But if you're easily offended by random ignorance, be warned.
