re: the only thing similar to nyc is the sales tax -
7/4/2012I'm curious just what "cultural awareness and diversity" you are missing in Manhattan, Kansas. And in what way is it "30 years behind" the rest of the country? I know there are some of the public schools there that exactly match the "cultural (ethnic) diversity" of the whole state of Kansas, and that the city is part of a significant "animal health corridor" with cutting-edge research and development in the areas of veterinary medicine, animal health, and food safety as well as other very up-to-date science, engineering, etc. firms active in the city and nearby areas.

7/4/2012I moved back to Manhattan,Kansas about 11 years ago after being gone for about 30 years because it is still the best place to live, and has been recognized as such by several national magazine and survey awards.
