8/17/2009We have lived in the same house for 22 years. Raised two sons who are independent and working. One son has a family and the other is searching for a mate.
The economy in the DC suburbs has been robust for most of the 30 years we have lived here. We have had our moments in 1991-1992 and currently in 2009 but overall the economy has been solid.
This has had a positive influence on home prices. We originally paid $164,000 in 1987 and have seen valuations go as high as $600,000 in 2006. We fell off to a possible low of $407,000 earlier this year and are on the rise again.
