Not a good place for kids -
11/25/2016I move to Charleston from Watertown NY, only move here because my husband wanted to be close to his parents, The heat is horrible, the majority of people are so rude and disrespectful, my first week at work I was treated like crap, the other employees will block me or will do anything so I could not do my job. Going to the stores, people are loud, start arguing about any little thing, couple of times I had to let my shopping car and leave the store. Is super expensive, there maybe things to do in here but with no money you cant do nothing. Pay rate is horrible, You pay property taxes for everything you own, I had live in TX, FL and NY and never had to pay vehicle property taxes except in SC and was more than $300. Here we are a family of 5 and we are paying $4800 on bills and thats without adding our passtime with the kids, in Watertown NY we were only paying $2500. After been here for only 3 months I decide that this is not the place to raise a family. Theres couple of accidents everyday, at least one shooting and stabbing a day, school system is the worse, my kids have homework only once a week and thats not every week, they come home with no motivation for school at all, If it was my husband and I it will be ok but this is no place for families, if your from up north you will see the difference between the kids north and south, up north kids were loving school on the weekends they will hang out in the library, here in SC, young kids are just hanging out in the streets, young girls outside dressing like prostitutes, and lots of drugs.
