Not Too Bad -
10/11/2010Hey, if anyone would know about the Kansas City North Area, or what us natives refer to the Neighborhood, it would be me. I was born and spend my super early life a few miles away in Liberty. But I spent most of my life in a Neighborhood that I thought was known as Maple Park. I put time in on the streets of this neighborhood. Was I good person? No, but I got through it.
The area is nice and filled with blue collar families. Most of us all know each other and it wont take them long to come get to know any new people who should move in. If you are a fairly liberal person and understand to mind your business, you should be fine here. Although not all people will agree with everything they see on the streets around here, calling the police on your neighbors truly is the fastest way to make these neighbors hate you. Instead if you MUST put your nose up in the next mans, dont forget your respect when approaching, remember to understand that we can agree to disagree, and dont take too much personally. These folks just wanna have a good time before they die.
Streets are not the best but definitely not forgotten for too long. There are 2 medium sized schools sitting next to each other in the center of this area, with a senior high just a mile south on 48th street.
A very hilly area, with lots of trees, parks, a American Legion Post, At least 3 churchs that I can think of, and WORLDS OF FUN is less then a mile away on the other side of 435. There are several Riverboat Casinos In the immediate area. Penguin Park and
North Kansas City Hospital is close as well as NKC Pro Bowl, N. Oak Trafficway, Gladstone, and KCI Airport are all in like 15 minutes drive.
Although this area was mostly a white population in the late 90s when I was living there, I doubt that it hasnt diversified quite a bit by now. Not that it would matter anyway, I dont remember anybody or any groups of racists. There is alotta like atv's being riden around its not a problem, however your kids my fall prey to the 4-wheeler lifestyle also. That spells BUCKS! OUTTA UR POCKET!

10/11/2010I disagree. However, I have REAL problem with the Dishonorable created in this Midwestern town by the Drug War.
Do I want to have ANY of the horror stories told by The Partnership for a Drug-free America to come true? Of-course not! That is truely Stupid!
However, I do believe that I own my body. Government, Employers, or Religious Entity has absolutely Zero say in what I do to it.
That includes YOU! GRAND ISLAND!
