4/27/2009Enjoy Kansas City and its low crime rate, overweight people, and well mid western ways.... Bend is a great place and I am sorry that you have a hard time here. I'm going on year four here and have yet to lock my car or house. Sometimes luck favors the prepared and other times people are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

4/27/2009If you are traveling hwy 97 on a Friday through Sunday, make a point of stoping in at the Hospitality Dinner House for a drink or dinner. The menu isn't something to be expected in a quiet town of 800+ (sign said 1000). The prime and potato crusted salmon are the only two dishes I tried and they were absolutely fantastic.
The 200 foot flagpole and 14,000 ft MT Shasta casts a shadow over the saddle shop and down to the old hospital, which is now a bed and breakfast called "The HOSPITALity Inn."
The town is a sleepy little place with a big heart. Worth stopping for a visit.

4/27/2009If you ever get a chance to stop into bend from june through september, they have the free summer sunday concerts at the les schwab amphitheater. Along with amazing festivals and music there are countless activities in a 20 mile radius. Central Oregon and Bend are a must see if traveling through Oregon.
