Are you young? Look to relocate elsewhere! -
10/23/2016The 2016 election has really made the ugliness of Sarasota come out. There are Tr*mp signs on every corner as well as Tr*mp shops. Anyway, this place is not good for young people, why? Well, because the cost of living is very high (btw, this site's cost of living is super inaccurate), traffic is awful, people drive like maniacs, restaurants are expensive and there's not much variety (a lot of places are closed of Sundays), people from up north come here and stay for 6 months and turn this place into a living hell. Young people are leaving this place for a reason, so do yourself a favor and don't take that job offer.

4/28/2011Dubuque is a town for families and religious folks. If you are young this is the wrong place to be at, there is no nightlife and activities are limited, you have to drive 2 hours to Iowa City to go to a concert or exciting bar. There are churches in every corner, and the town is culturally dead! Liberal folks should stay away because you will not fit in...

4/13/2011I agree with you 100%. Orlando is terrible. I went to middle and high school in Orlando, and it is a joke! Get out of there as soon as you can! I am currently in Dubuque, IA which I do not like, but at least I have a decent paying job while I work on my degree. You will be happy to get out of FL :-)

4/13/2011I lived in Orlando for 10 years and believe me, I am glad I moved away. The weather is unbearable, it is so humid all the time that you will have to shower several times a day. Unemployment rate in Orlando is super high, several friends and family have been unemployed for months, and the pay is extremely low. Traffic is also pretty bad and the current transportation system is useless (I believe they are building a rail for the central FL area). Crime rate is very high as well - Orlando is a terrible place to raise a family. I lived there half of my life and I consider it my hometown but I would NEVER go back. There are more people in the city than there are jobs because people from the north move to Orlando trying to escape from the winters - it is not worth it. Without a degree the opportunities of finding a job are very small, you might find something PT at minimum wage ($7.25). The state of FL has a really bad educational system, schools are bad and overcrowded. The cost of living is high if you want to live in a decent neighborhood. I know that the beaches and the warm weather are very appealing but in my opinion it would not be a wise decision to move to Orlando. I hope this helps! :)
