6/17/2010It is especially amusing to read criticisms and dismissals of Boston from people living in such lovely meccas as uh...Houston, TX. Talk about ironic. Look, Beantown is not perfect. But I've lived a lot of places, including Sweden, Hawaii, New York, LA (ugh!), Portland, OR (nice!), Vermont, and well...several astonishighly hideous cities in Texas. Most of the knocks against Boston have nothing to do with the city; they're all about the idiotic cultural wars and almost always spewing from some right-wingnut grinding an ax about "liberals." Quite a few in here, I see. Judging by what they've written, I'd say that most have not even been to the city. When I was young, I hated the place -- but now that I'm older and have watched the city truly come into its own, I'd say its one of the BEST places to live in the US. And to John from Kingwood near Houston -- thanks for the laugh...and for running the old irony meter into the red zone. Please do stay in Houston.

6/17/2010In Boston, politics is a blood-sport unlike any other part of the country. The city is amazing and a wonderful place to live. But the politics are ugly.
