Santa Rosa Beach, FL

There is no doubt that there aren't many public or government jobs here. Most jobs are in the service sector. But that doesn't mean that there are no opportunities. The United States is primarily a service economy when it comes to employment. The population is low, and most "small towns" would welcome the influx of visitors and tourists 30A gets. In most of the country, small towns all across America are dying, and without tourists, Santa Rosa Beach would be one of them. So people should thank their lucky stars that they get to live in a small town that is thriving. With that said, economic downturns do hit, but they hit everywhere.

This isn't the place for someone with no ambition or motivation. No one will hand it to you on a silver platter. But guess what, that's true everywhere. There just aren't many clock-in and clock-out for 25 years, get a gold watch and pension type careers left in America. If you're going to cook for people then aim for being a master Chef, with the ambition to open your own place. If you going to work in hospitality get an education and work your way up to resort manager. If you want to work in retail, work your way up and become manager, or better yet build a business plan and start your own retail store. Opportunities are everywhere for people who are motivated, and their nowhere for people who aren’t.

Santa Rosa Beach is a slice of heaven. - 1/29/2020
Santa Rosa Beach is a great place to live. Weather-wise it's really two-seasons only. It will go below 50 or 60 degrees in November through March. Then things start warming up quickly. It's peaceful yet lively when it needs to be, all along 30A there are all sorts of interesting shops and restaurants.

The schools both public and private are some of the best Florida has to offer. Class size is relatively small in the public schools and very small in some of the private. Like most beach towns the closer you are to the beach the more expensive housing can be, but otherwise, the cost of living is reasonable.

You will need a car or mode of transportation since there is no public transportation. Of course, in the various communities, bicycles or walking will do. Job wise this area would be a good place for entrepreneurs, service providers, hospitality industry, professionals, construction, and artisans. There is very little "manufacturing" industry here, only small scale specialized opportunities. Also, there are very few public or government job opportunities. Keep in mind the population is small, and the crime rate is very low.

It really is a wonderful place.
