Can't Afford To Stay -
9/10/2007Housing costs have gone through the roof in recent years, to the point that seniors and young people can't afford to live on Long Island, where Lindenhurst is located. Town policies, for better or worse, and a NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) attitude amongst a vocal minority do not encourage the construction of small starter homes or affordable rentals, only "McMansions" that dwarf the other homes on the block. It's a pity, because it's a great place to live, close to what NYC has to offer, but with it's own lifestyle.
