5/3/2008Clint, among the limitations of the UCR are:in the case of multiple crimes only the most serious crime is figured into the UCR. UCR doesn't account for unreported crime. Reporting the info
used for the UCR is voluntary. Federal crimes aren't listed in the
UCR. Not all Crime Index offenses are used in the UCR.Plus, the
issue of the accuracy and honesty in recording crime stats. Many
crimes are left of the UCR list etc. Lesson: Don't believe everything you read.

5/3/2008Clint, I don't think you understand that so called crime figures you base your posts on aren't very reliable. The UCR( Uniform
Crime Report). I'll explain it to you in the next post so you
understand.

5/3/2008Having lived in Co. Spgs, while a nice city it does have its serious issues with crime(violent and property) no matter what you may think.
Grand Junction, CO

re: night life etc. - 5/1/2007 -
5/3/2008Grand Junction is a beautiful town with friendly people, however;
the job market is awful and despite having a small college the town offers little nightlife. GJ has lots of great outdoor activites in its backyard.
Denver, CO

re: What a horrible city? - 12/27/2007 -
5/3/2008I disagree having lived all over the state of Colorado, the people are not rude. The people in CO are very friendly. Your logic makes no sense, you accuse Colorado women of being manly because many elect to stay in shape. That's ok you can go chubby
chasing somewhere else, I'm sure the women in Denver will get over your loss. You and the poster Michael below should be roomies, you can spend your days telling each other how supposedly
Denver is the biggest hell hole on earth. I'm not saying Denver is
perfect, but it's not horrible like you make it out to be.

Topeka, KS

re: Crime Rate - 3/20/2008 -
5/3/2008Clint, while I agree with much of what you posted you are simply
uniformed on the crime rates. Topeka has a higher violent crime
and property crime rate than Lawrence. The violent ctime is a lot
lower in Lawrence, no matter how much you want to believe other wise. True, Lawrence does have a fairly high number of property
crimes which is almost on par with Topeka, however; the violent crime is dramatically lower in Lawrence.
Overland Park, KS
Overland Park -
3/17/2008Overland Park pros and cons
Pros
1. pretty city 2. excellent location near KC and Lawrence 3. number of nice
stores and rests 4. number of parks 5. very educated city 6. very low crime
rate 7. excellent schools 8. nice place to raise a family 9. excellent shopping options
Cons
1. the cost of living index posted isn't even close to being accurate, Overland Park is much more expensive than what the cost of living index chart posts.
2. Overland Park has a lot of people like Boulder, Co whom are driven by
a me, me, me mentality 3. if you are a liberal minded person,O. Park isn't
going to be the best fit for you 4. my primary criticism with O. Park is how many people flaunt their money, however, this isn't unique solely to O. Park
but it is an off putting trait.
Overall, O. Park is a very nice city
Milwaukee, WI
Milwaukee -
3/12/2008I lived in Milwaukee for 7 years so I can see the pros/ cons to Milwaukee.
I had posted before but wanted to expand a few things from my last post.
Pros: 1. very funny in summer with all the great festivals 2. # of excellent
malls 3. Brady street has a lot of nice shops/ rests 4. Milwaukee unlike
many big cities anymore has a # of mom and pop butcher shops and bakeries
4. # of excellent rests 5. Milwaukee has some very nice museums 6. Miller Park is a beautiful baseball stadium 7.East side and around Lake Michigan is gorgeous 8.# of nice parks 9. # nice suburbs 10. cheap place to live.
Cons: 1.many of the people are simply very rude, uncultured and lack a higher
education 2. very cold in winters, I can't stress enough how rough Milwaukee
winters can be 3. very humid in summer 4. the city is polarized along racial
lines 5. many people from Milwaukee do not like outsiders 6. many people can
only hold a conversation if it revolves around the Packers 7. very high crime
rate 8. awful roads that rarely get fixed right 9. Milwaukee has a "bar culture" which is not for everyone 10. MPS is a total mess, Milwaukee has
a HUGE HS dropout rate 11. race card gets played a lot in Milwaukee
12. Mitchell is a lousy airport 13. not as many professional job options in comparison to other metro areas. 14. many close minded people
Overall, Milwaukee is a fun to place to visit in the summer for the fests but
is not a very open minded city nor very progressive. My biggest problems with
Milwaukee are the harsh winters and how rude many of the people are.
Greeley, CO
Greeley -
3/12/2008Zach, excellent insights on Greeley. I lived in Greeley for 6 yrs and here

Pros: 1. excellent weather, bad weather rarely lasts long. 2. Very friendly people 3. Greeley has a number of nice parks 4. Greeley has a low crime rate
5. Compared to Boulder,Denver, Fort Collins,Longmont and Loveland, Greeley is
a much cheaper place to live 6. nice place for a retiree 7. nice town to raise a family in.
Cons: 1. awful job market with very few professional job options 2. very poor
cultural scene 3. many jobs in Greeley pay very low wages 4. very little to do, many of the UNC students always leave on the weekends. 5. the K-12 system
is a mess 6. foul smelling most of the time because of the slaughterhouses
7. very limited selection of good rests
Boulder, CO
Boulder -
3/12/2008Boulder has many obvious pluses but also a number of negatives.
Pros: 1. Boulder is one of the prettiest cities in the U.S 2.very informed
and educated community 3. excellent school system 4. very low crime rate
5. great outdoor options in your backyard. 6. # of good rests and shops
Cons: 1. A number of people embrace the Gordon Gecco from the film Wall Street mentality that greed is good. 2. Many of the people are all about themselves in Boulder and also want you to share their values and beliefs. 3. Many people in Boulder simply aren't as tolerant as they would like you to believe they are 4. awful traffic 5. zero diversity, Boulder is for the most part lily white 5. the town has many old hippies many whom have given up
what they believe in long ago 6. if you don't make good money don't consider moving to Boulder it is VERY expensive. 7. CU also attracts a HIGH # of kids from Malibu, Bev Hills and other higher rent places, these kids often bring with them a sense of entitlement.
Boulder like any towns has its pluses and negatives. Is it an awful town? NO.
Is it as great as advertised? NO. While Boulder is beautiful many of the people are the biggest negative about Boulder.

you chose to live unless you enjoy listening to Univ of Iowa students partying.
East Lansing, MI
East Lansing -
2/24/2008East Lansing is a very pretty town. The town has had frequent problems with
student rioters. Overall 60% of the town is composed of students. I would
recommend East Lansing as a place to get a quality higher education but perhaps
not as the place to raise a family. East Lansing offers a lot of cultural things to do and has many good rests. East Lansing has a low crime rate. Pick wisely
the part of town in which you chose to live unless you enjoy listening to

Columbus has a strong economy unlike many metro areas in the midwest.
Pick wisely where you lived unless you enjoy listening to parties as Ohio State has aprox 53,000 students in the Columbus area alone. Columbus does have its areas with very high crime.

who live in Boulder 3. poor air quality 4. zero diversity 5. traffic is
a constant headache 6. many of the Boulderites act like they are better
and superior to everyone else. 7. CU has a reputation for being of the top
party schools, so unless you enjoy listening to parties choose wisely where
you live 8. if you are a liberal person, this is a good fit, however, if you
are conservative you will not fit in. Boulder is one of the most liberal minded cities in the US along with...Berkeley, Ann Arbor, Madison and
Cambridge.9. Many people move to Boulder with the expectation that this is
the Boulder of 1960's and 1970's it is not, although, it is still a very liberal minded city.

Milwaukee, WI
Milwaukee -
8/1/2007I lived in Milwaukee for 7 years. I can objectively give my pros and cons
about the city.
Pros
1. Great festivals in summer 2.a few nice malls 3. some very good restaurants
4. Brady Street is very eclectic 5. some very nice museums 6. a very nice base ball stadium( Miller Park) 7. the lakefront is very nice 8. some nice suburbs
Cons
1. very hot and humid in summer 2. Antarctica like winters 3. very poor job

the city is polarized along racial lines 7. many people can only hold a conversation if it revolves around the Packers 8. constant construction on roads that never seem to get fixed right 9. Milwaukee has a" bar culture" which isn't for everyone 10. many of the people are poorly educated and
lack manners and many are very rude, in fact, some of the rudest people you will meet. 11. many Milwaukeean's can only relate to people they went to HS with 12. Milwaukee is stuck in a time warp in terms of how many people view the world.
Overall..I would recommend against moving to Milwaukee. Honestly, I feel the negatives outweigh the pluses. If you must go to Milwaukee, than visit in summer when the weather is more agreeable and the excellent festivals are going on throughout the summer.
