Alford, FL
One of those "pass through" towns -
8/11/2021Moved here from Illinois in 2014.
There isn't anything to Alford.
Doesn't have its own school anymore, and only just recently got its own Care Clinic. But other than that, its just a residential area that has a gas station, a single traffic light, two small restaurants, and a handful of abandoned buildings. The town is a bit of an eyesore; most properties are unkempt and the roads are in disrepair.
The local people are fairly friendly though! And there used to be an Alligator Pit restaurant that was great, but it was recently changed to a BBQ Pit (that I've also heard good things about).
Gifford, IL
Typical midwestern village -
8/11/2021Gifford is a quiet, rural community that is safe, albeit boring. More of a residential neighborhood than an actual "town."
There are no particular attractions here, just the bare minimum. A school, bank, convenience store/gas station, and houses.
Because of how small it is, everyone knows everyone. And there tends to be favoritism towards people who were born and raised in Gifford. The longer your family has been in the area, the higher your societal rank.
But other than that, it's a somewhat cute town and decent place to live.
