11/8/2016Sharon, I've lived in the Tri-Cities since 1990 and I don't find the people "not friendly". If I walk by minding my own business and don't interact, then I'm not met with a lot of people reaching out to greet me. But when I reach out and interact with them they readily respond and cordial and friendly. I find how I am treated is directly proportionate to how I am treating others. For me to be an extrovert is difficult and takes effort because I am generally an introvert.
As for bad drivers - that is true in any large metro-complex, The Tri-Cities metro population is 253 thousand, making it the 2nd largest city in the state of WA. With that many drivers, you are going to encounter what can be viewed as bad drivers. The real problem in my opinion though, is that people are in too much of a hurry to get from point A to point B because they know it takes 12 minutes to get there so they allow 13 minutes of travel time, and therefore are rushed to get where they are going. We are also getting an influx of driver's from different states, and I have no idea how they were taught to drive.
Yes, the so called "sin tax" in WA is high, so in the gasoline tax. But we are run by the I-5 corridor which is primarily "spend it all and tax more" politicians, instead of fiscally responsible adults.

3/21/2014Nestled on the banks of the Columbia with the Snake & Yakima rivers nearby, there is no I lack of recreation. Fishing, hiking, walking, biking, boating and more. Coupled with its mild winters, the avid gardner has plenty of growing season.
