Dunedin, FL

correcting the bad reviews

Clearwater has plenty of rough areas, Dunedin has a few, but not as bad. Be prepared for high traffic in a tiny area, and weird “Florida Man” style crime.
If you make loads of money, you’ll be fine.

Meh... - 11/12/2020
I lived here for many years, but tourism ruined the area. What used to be a quaint little postcard town is now a WAY overpopulated tourist trap. The town has gotten rid of any trace of land to build condos and townhomes. It’s really very sad to those of us that were there before it all happened. It’s now a haven for snowbirds, but along with that, it’s growth has made it feel less cozy and safe. Another major issue that the cost of living has gotten way out of control over time. It’s very popular and trendy, but it’s just not for me.

Binghamton, NY

A fresh look from a Binghamtonian - 11/5/2020
I have had time to mull over the whole concept of if this area is good, bad, or otherwise, especially in a pandemic. So here it is from my point of view.
Yes. The area is not a big city, it is a small city. Is the economy booming? Currently no more here than anywhere else. It’s unfortunate, however, Binghamton was also just rated as a top city to move to, post-pandemic, in the Northeast. When the pandemic began, Binghamton showed a quicker recovery than several neighboring areas.
Now is a poor time to really put a ton of criticism on any city. If you hate the area, I imagine it’s been employment or weather- affected in nature, and I understand completely, but this is not a localized problem. This is happening in so many places around the county. Prior to the pandemic, Binghamton has been making many strides. I will also say, if crime has you worried, you don’t totally need to be. Of course crime is never desirable, but crime that does occur here is typically not a random act and is usually in a very specific section of town. Most of the area is fine and from my experience, quite beautiful. Bottom line: things happen anywhere. But unless you plan to live in the worst part of town (anywhere) you should fine.

crime

I’m curious how they’re calculated as well, but for a different reason. Crime doesn’t seem especially high to me. It’s generally very calm and quiet. I’m curious how much is concentrated in very specific parts of town, too.

Binghamton, NY in a nutshell

Certainly could be true of some of the north side properties, not an accurate representation of the west side at all. I won’t get into every detail here, but absolutely need to point out that even with high taxes, housing is cheaper here (at least to purchase, and lots to rent as well) than compared to other states I’ve lived in. It’s well below the national average.

Don’t buy into the negativity - 10/16/2019
I live in Binghamton, which is very close. Endicott is similar, and a very nice place to visit or live. This is just my experience. It’s a beautiful area and the schools are pretty good. I hear a lot of negative talk about both areas, but you can’t come here and expect it to be NYC. It has its good and bad, but is not filled with crime in the way people describe.

Binghamton, NY

On the up and up! - 10/15/2019
I’ll always love this place. It is making a comeback and the university is constantly expanding for the better. There’s a lot of revitalization and rehab of older historic buildings. There’s actually a shortage of workers here, so there is work available to those who are looking and qualified.
