10 on Crime? -
10/29/2010A 10/10 in crime? I grew up in Indianapolis and there was something going on daily with crime. I also have lived in Naples, FL and Holly Springs, NC. Since living here, I have experienced, nor seen, any excessive crime that would make it worse to live here than any other city. We can't stay home and are always out and about.
Sure there is crime here, being it's the lowest paid 'big' county in the nation. But there are spots, that for someone with intelligence, could plainly see to avoid.
It's still overall, with kids, the best place we've lived. Wow, something different to do everyday.

5/9/2008Wow, a nice person from Jeryey? I'm in Naples, FL from Indianapolis. Everyone here is from either New York,, Mass, Or New Jersey and are the rudest people I've ever met in my life. I am leaving this miserable town and have no desire to visit those nasty states. I would move back but my wife won't with the cold weather. Lucky You.

5/9/2008I'm still here. May of 08' and I absolutly hate it here. I'm so sick of Naples I can't stand it. Thank you god, I'm transfering at the end of this month to North Carolina. Sorry NC, I will do my best to bring the Hoosier in me and not the rudeness of Naples, FL.

5/9/2008Yes IT IS. U cant describe how suck Naples is. Your from Marco Island, not near as bad. I worked all around Marco for several weeks and enjoyed it much more than Naples. The avg age in Marco drops about 10-15 years of age to around the 50's. The people are nicer in Marco and feels more comfortable to be there than Naples.

8/20/2006I grew up in Indianapolis and moved to Avon in 2002. We moved to Naples, FL to escape the cold winters. My wife and I miss Avon so much. Avon is just perfect to raise a family. We felt so comfortable there with our kids and had a blast every weekend at the parks and the most wonderful youth soccer program. We feel like now we can't give our kids the same quality of life as they had in Avon. Avon was great with traffic, stores, sports, families, and the feeling of a great community I never grew up with, going to one of the biggest high schools in Indiana.
You won't be upset with Avon, maybe just a little cold in January-February.

Unaffordable for people who work. -
8/20/2006I work in utilites here in Naples, FL. I go from the very poor to the very rich. The comments from 90 percent of the people are that they are very scared because the 'service' people can't afford to live here and leave. That is the very truth. They have very little affordable housing here, and that is a waste because the only people living there are people who dont work. So normal people who work normal jobs such as teachers, policeman, telephone, and homebuilders have nowhere to live. Try finding an apartment complex here that rents, there are'nt any. They've all sold to condos.
I will give Naples a very peaceful place to live, low crime, and the weather is very nice. Summers are not even as hot as people complain, and the winters are seriously paradise. Coming from Indianapolis, where the summers have no relief from the heat and the same for the very cold winters I have found paradise when it comes to weather.
But then I have kids. Naples is by far the rudist city I have been when it comes to families. The average age here is 61 and very noticable. They seriously hate seeing kids here. The only place we can go is Target. And the very few people here with kids are in hiding and my kids have no one to play with. I make enough money where in Indianapolis I would be doing very well, here I feel like I'm in poverty. The people who make the real estate so high are old people coming down with there life savings, you can't compete. I love the weather, but have to leave this retirement village behind. Good luck with getting decent service, I'm moving to Ft Myers.
