Beaufort Winter Reverie -
2/3/2009The other poster is correct, outdoor activities slow down in the winter, but the social scene stays warm with house parties, pot lucks, concerts, bridge and Scrabble, book clubs and library book talks, and gatherings at restuarants and pubs. Think 'Cheers' where everyone knows your name.
Some Beaufort residents actually prefer (and I include myself here) this slower-paced, interior Beaufort winter scene compared to the more bustling and crowded summers. There's more time to create art and writing, cook a special meal for friends, try out a new recipe, take time to reflect--or perfect your downward dog Yoga position.
And winter beach walking when it's only you and your dog alone on a wide stretch of sand has its special appeal...air so fresh, shells to gather...

Some residents actually prefer the cozy interior Beaufort winters compared to the more bustling and crowded summers. More time to create art and writing, more time for friendly gatherings; time to try out new recipes. And winter beach walking when it's only you and your dog on a wide stretch of beach, has its special charms...
