12/3/2020Not really dangerous here in McAllen, boring sure, but dangerous is definitely way too much of a stretch, if not a flat out lie. In 2018, there were 0 murders. "In 2018, there were just 85 violent crimes reported per 100,000 residents in McAllen, less than one-fourth the national violent crime rate of 369 incidents per 100,000 Americans and the least of any midsize to large city in Texas" It also has some of the lowest violent crime. The most notable crime you'll find will be something like theft or maybe drug trafficking, but McAllen is safe overall. Lived here my whole life, even walking at night, and not a thing that could be dangerous. In 2018, for instance, there were 0 murders in McAllen. McAllen is a safe city, if not so safe that it's boring. If you win 2018, there were just 85 violent crimes reported per 100,000 residents in McAllen, less than one-fourth the national violent crime rate of 369 incidents per 100,000 Americans and the least of any midsize to large city in Texas. If you want a dangerous city however, all you need to do is go across the river to Reynosa. Probably the most notable "event" that I can remember here was some robbery at the mall, and that was stopped almost immediately.
