Keyser, WV

Almost heaven as the song says, but with a Walmart - 9/8/2020
Amazingly beautiful surroundings. Keyser is nestled in the valley between mountains. Located at about 600Ft.. and surrounded by mountains that reach 2500 ft, its a beautiful and picturesque place.
The town is rather sprawling with the old section located at the potomac rivers edge right across the river from Maryland.
Rest assured that they do allow marylanders access to their beautiful town but you will need to leave your big city attitude at the line.
Keyser is a typical rural town offering the small town openness and friendliness you cannot find in the larger metro area.
People are great and the town offers all the amenities you would expect from a modern town but with the old charm of a town that dates back to the 1800's .
They have quaint shops and modern stores. Even a state of the art hospital serving Keyser and the surrounding areas.
If you are ready to ditch the stress of the metro area and move to a town where you are known by name and people respect each other, consider Keyser or the surrounding area. Get up on the mountings and chill in the beauty that only nature can bring. Don't get me talking about fishing... LOL.. lets just say if you are used to the overfished, stressed ecosystems of the metro area you will be pleasantly surprised. Out here the fish ournumber fishermen.. LOL
Trails, ATV tracks and hunting abound. Live the vacation like every day. Who needs the stress of metro living when most people are now working from home. High speed internet is readily available and cell reception is great in most spots.
If you are thinking of retiring here, you dollars will do further when you don't have to pay outrageous property taxes. When you think of social distancing you are talking roughly 2500 people per sq mile.. and outside Keyser, you are talking about 22 people per sq mile.. LOL Compare that to the metro area with 0ver 32,000 people per sq mile and you get the picture. That's the sort of social distancing I can live with forever.. :-)
