Madison, NJ

Madison NJ - 10/27/2010
The Borough of Madison is located in Morris County. It is 23 miles by car, west of New York City and sits on the Mid-Town Direct rail line. Madison is well know for its outstanding school system, diverse population, easy commute, and as a great place to raise a family.

Madison, which is approximately 4 square miles in area, has a population of around 15,500. Lot sizes vary between .25 to .5 of an acre, with architectural styles ranging from 2 bedroom ranches to 10 bedroom Victorian houses. Townhouse style condominiums can be found at Madison Commons and Rose Wood.

Many of Madison's younger families moved here from Hoboken, Jersey City and Manhattan. The commute to NYC on the Mid Town Direct takes about 55 minutes. There is plenty of parking reserved, for a fee, at the station parking lot for residents of Madison. With Newark Airport just a 15 minute drive away, Madison is a favorite location for corporate relocation professionals and travelers.

Madison police and fire departments are both paid, while the ambulance and first aid squad are both volunteer. Madison's infrastructure is maintained by Borough employees. This includes the artisan well-water system, recreational parks and ball fields, roads, electrical lines and sewer system.
