Gold Bar, WA

Gold Bar Washington - 6/3/2008
Gold Bar is a little town with incredible beauty. There are astounding mountain views, Wallace Falls Park--with hiking and views and a wide variety of trails... the quaint May Creek and the "perfect-sized-for-summer swimming" Wallace River. If you want drama, the Skykomish River is close by too.

The people are diverse-- from young families to older retirees, and when the days get longer it seems as though almost everyone is out for a walk, jog or bike ride. The elemetary school is brick with maple trees set against the backdrop of mountains... It looks like a picture.

I love that Gold Bar still has big yards (septic systems vs. sewer-- we don't have sewer yet)... there are many modest homes, some expensive bigger ones, and like any town, some that are in poor condition... Over all, though, it is a town filled with a wide array of people, homes and personality. I have found that most of the people I meet and grow to know here are bright and thoughtful.

We have a great grocery store which carries some organic produce and dairy, and stocks Starbucks coffee...( these things are important criteria for me) Gold Bar has several gas stations, etc. It is really a quick trip to Monroe (15 minutes) for ample shopping options. Seattle is about 45 minutes away--unless it it rush hour... So we are close to great medical facilities and culture and superb shopping and restaurants!
