Wonderful small town feel with big city perks -
2/28/2021I grew up here and still live here with my family. Great schools, friendly people, excellent amenities, high paying jobs, thirty minutes to the international airport (EWR) and 45 minutes to nyc. There are local farms for apple picking, beaches an hour by car, family events in Morris county every weekend. There is a lot of snow in winter, but we're used to it, so the roads are cleaned quickly. Only downfall is the taxes, which are very steep. However, the wages are high so it's somewhat manageable. A two bedroom house in this county usually has property taxes of $7k or more. This is a wonderful area, very safe (basically no crime apart from kids shoplifting), great for families, college students, adults. Due to the taxes, not a smart place to retire.
