10/6/2005LaGrange is a small city of 25,000 in the middle of Atlanta and Columbus. The schools here are absolutly horrible, and there is a high illiteracy rate. Crime is high for such a small population, but is concentrated in certain neighborhoods, many of which are trying to be redeveloped such as Hillside. Healthcare isn't that great either, but Columbus and Altlanta are close. The overwhelming majority of the population is Baptist, but all of the other major denominations are well represented. There is also a small synagogue. The mall isn't much with a mediocre Belk, JCPenny, and Goody's, and not much else. Same goes for restaurants, but that's changing as many good ones are opening up in the re-devloped downtown. Thanks in part to LaGrange College there is a symphony orchestra, and opera and ballet companies. The local government here is AWFUL, and taxes are high. The people here are friendly, but there is a big gap between the haves and have-nots.
