re: Idaho Costs Too Much! - 8/11/2009

I'm confused by this. With all the ag, tech, and other fields in Idaho, there are many opportunities to be had. Born and raised in small town Idaho, moved to Boise right out of high school. Got right on with the local semiconductor company with no degree and have since had my school paid for by them, and have promoted within the company several times since the late 90s, always at a competitive wage. Same company has had ups and downs over last 20 years, but I've never been worried about my job. Having family who live in Pocatello, I can understand the difference in home values and earning potential, but this review paints a much darker picture than reality, as the home prices have always been lower than in the Boise area, but not too far off. You can still buy nice brand new starter homes in both areas for less than $150,000 today. And being in both the ag and tech fields now, I know of many opportunities in both towns for those with little to no experience. Not sure what the disparity in opinions here is. Hope you've found luck since this comment!

re: Boise is correct not "Boise City" - 8/14/2012
- 2/5/2016
Speaking of correctness, Boise is commonly referred to in official documents and known as Boise City, even in local signage. Take Veteran's Memorial from Chinden up Curtis towards Fairview and the transition from Garden City is marked as 'Boise City' (check out Google Maps street-view!).

Additionally, Boise is ON the Boise River. The Snake River at its closest, is 25 miles away. But yes, enjoy your visit!

30 Minutes to Anything - 2/5/2016
Born and raised in Idaho, now in the Boise area. I've snowboarded and waterskied in the same day here. I've driven through mountains to get to sand dunes. I go back to my hometown and still know many of the proprietors still there. I've lived in several other states and always return to this great state. I hate to promote its beauty for fear of others coming in and turning it into the place they left in the first place. But confident that most will eventually come around and figure it out.
