No One I Know Likes Durham

Without necessarily agreeing nor disagreeing, I think we need to spell-check ourselves before posting. For what it's worth, "yankey" is actually spelled YANKEE. And if you are from the area, you aren't doing any favors as a representative of the local education system or in whatever jurisdiction you were educated. In that context your rating would certainly be justified. Perhaps if you improve your diction (some English technical or creative writing classes perhaps - or a copy of a dictionary) that "main employer" who "does not hire local people" would otherwise not notice all the spelling errors in your application or resume'. As for real estate markets...well...you posted this in 2014, in the wake of the 2008 financial crises. However, if you posted your home for sale in 2000 and it had not sold in 14 years. You were asking too much for it. You know - that whole supply/demand thing. And just in case...selling a home in Bahama is not exactly representative of the Durham RE market.

Durham: A great city to grow with

Very optimistic view. Forgive my presumption, but I'm going to opine that you must be in the real estate business, and might otherwise contribute to a selection bias. To be sure, we all have selection bias to some extent. I'm mixed on Durham. I moved here three years ago from Wilmington (wife had a job opportunity for which I moved my business HQ). To end on a high note, I do get a feel of improvement and gentrification in many areas, whereas my opinion of the area several years ago was undecidedly negative.
