Minnesota Nice? HA! - 8/6/2008
Ive been in Minnesota almost a year now and although many people say "hey it's minnesota, it gets cold duh?" and look at you funny when you complain about the weather.....YOU HAVE NO FRICKIN IDEA unless you come and see for yourself! COLD is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I've lived in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, they both don't have JACK on how cold it gets here. I went through a week and a half of -30 to -50 degree weather. Coldest I've ever seen in my life.

As for the people....it's quite odd. The gay culture here is embraced VERY well here. Coming here from Atlanta, it's not a big deal, but it's weird being downtown and seeing a HUGE sign saying "Gay 90's" (which is a nightclub). Although Atlanta has a very large gay community, you probably wouldn't see that in the bible thumping south. Another thing I found interesting is the large population of Somli-born community in MINNESOTA (WTF?) Never thought I'd see a big african community in a state that's so damn cold. If you're hispanic or like to be around hispanics...no dice here man. I've only seen a handful here. Maybe cause I've yet to see or hang out on the southside of town. But on the northside and the suburbs (which are another WORLD compared to the city) you won't find much diversity. There are lots of interracial couples and people here also. Seems that a city that's so open with so many things that are taboo in other places would be awesome right? NO. Minneapolis is pretty boring imo. Everyone seems to be in their own little bubble. People are VERY fake here especially if you aren't from here. I'm a pretty easy going guy and I've yet to make any REAL friends here at all. People seem pretty shallow and full of it here thus far. Most people whom I have gotten along with since I've lived here are from Chicago. All in all, you probably would like it here if you were FROM here, but if you're not, I wouldn't recommend Minnesota unless you're a loner who likes to keep to yourself and don't really talk or care to be bothered by anyone.
