Bremerton, WA | 6 Review(s)

I've lived in Bremerton for about 3 years due to coming here for a job. I am so desperate to get out of here. I am leaving my job and moving. I don't know where, but I need to get out of Kitsap County. It is a depressing place to be. I'll write more later; I've been up all night searching the web gathering info about different places to live. I'm thinking at minimum Snohomish County. But I'm looking into Boulder/Denver or Rocklin, CA areas...not sure yet. I want to scream Hellllp! lol.

I'm jealous. I just moved from Bremerton WA to Sacto in July. I'm ready to leave. I hate it here. My cousin just moved out to Spokane and sounds like she loves it. One day I will get out of here.

Rocklin, CA

re: Suburbia at its finest (or worst) - 10/5/2010

Yea, Rocklin does seem to be safe and clean. I agree, the stores are ridiculously crowded, especially Costco, WinCo,WalMart...and the culture is dull and monotone. That's what happens when people are rude, snobby, and arrogant. Their personalities are monotone and they do not bring "culture" as the friedly, laid back, not in a rat race kind of people I have experienced do. Unfortunately I moved down here to be closer to a family member with a worsening condition. I hate it here. The people here are rude, stuck up, don't care about anyone else; you're right, the customers in store are so rude to employees - as if they are low life or something. I see people giving other people dirty looks as in "who are you." I've seen people of all ages looking people up and down in a rude way. This place gives just an unpleasant and uncomfortable feeling if you are a nice or laid back kind of person. The people in this area all the way from Citrus Heights to Rocklin are all the same. Just rude, uptight, and unpleasant. I wonder what people who go to Church around here are like. Everyone is always in a hurry like rats in a maze - you never actually understand that until you come from another state and live in it. People look at you like a dumbass for driving only 8 mph over the speed limit in the slow lane and they have to go around you. G forbid if you actually come to a stop and look for traffice before you turn on a red light you will piss people off and they will honk at you and speed around you when you are already going fast. They will also just come up on you before you even get a stop in at the red light and be blasting their horn at you. I met someone a few days ago who lives in Folsom who was saying her husband is dying to get out of here and find a small friendly town for all the reasons I just explained. It was such a relief to see that someone around here has the same view as me. This whole area is hell and I can't wait to get out. Being around rude and uptight people constantly is just a really uncomfortable feeling.

Yerington, NV

don't go - 5/11/2011
Yerington is in the middle of NOWHERE. It is about 45 min from Wellington (don’t blink or you’ll miss it), and another hour on top of that to Carson City. You have to drive for about 4 hours into Nevada coming from California just to get to Yerington. It’s dirt. All dirt. Plus the mercury, copper, whatever else is floating around in the air killing people. If you have a health emergency / need a visit to the ER, plan on dying or coming close. My mother, who unfortunately lives in Yerington, had a serious medical issue (which after doing some research, learned was a “911/seek prompt medical attention” issue). She went to the “Yerington ER” where the “doctors” were not familiar with what was happening to her (which is not so rare an issue that doctors in an ER shouldn’t know about), and sent her packing. Her amazing friend that took her to the”ER” brought her back to her home where she called me and told me what happened. I told her she needed to go back; she should be at a hospital, it’s a serious issue, and to see if they will ambulance her up to Carson City. She ended up going back to Yerington docs, and they REFUSED to re-admit her because she “was just released.” She is an older person, so what is she to do when told by “MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS” to go home that she doesn’t need to be in the ER. When under the serious physical and mental stress, she was not in a condition to argue. She couldn’t talk. (I’m not gonna tell details of the condition here on the web). Her serious medical problem was going on while at the “ER”, on the way back home, and even while her 2nd attempt at the ER was going on. It continued that day, that night, and the next day, allll the way up to and past her “regular doctor appointment.” She showed up for her “regular doctor appointment” still having this 911 situation. Her doctor was not there. Two nurses (practitioners I believe) assisted checking out my mom and told her this was not a “clinic” issue and she needed to be checked into the ER. Come to find out, her sudden serious issue was caused by the last doctor who issued her medication not checking what other meds she was already on. (Here’s where I want to type what would be considered threatening but I’ll keep it to myself since this is about “health” in Yerington, NV.) They did what they did and hours later, my mom “apppeared ok”.
If you are looking for a place to just die, move here. If you are looking for a free suicide assist, go see the Yerington doctor. If you ever need a med evac, that will not happen. You apparently can’t be any further than Wellington if you are going towards Carson City. So it’s a 45 min drive from Yerington to Wellington. Not much hope there. Wonder if the docs there that couldn’t help her received online medical degrees.
Would some other people who read these posts please post any opinions they have about the place?

boonies - 5/10/2011
I don't have a good opinion about this place. I don't personally live here but I know someone who does and shouldn't have moved there - it is out in the boonies and nothing but dirt. It's about 45 min from Wellington, and another hour to even Carson City. If there is any life threatening emergency, the only med evac is as far as Wellington (for people in Yerington). If you are sick or need the ER...Yerington docs are gonna kill you. My mom went there with a serious issue (I'm not gonna put specifics out there on her personal problems), the docs didn't know what the issue was and sent her packing. She called me and told me everything - I researched her issue and it was a 911/get prompt medical attention issue. I told her to go back and see if they could ambulance her to Carson Ciity. She went back and they wouldn't take her in because she "just checked out." She went back the next day (fortunately still alive) to her regular doctor who "wasn't there." Two (nurse practitioners I believe) checked her out and said this wasn't a "clinic" issue but an ER issue and subsequently checked her into the ER. They are saying what caused this serious problem (or made it worse/life threatening) is the doc that issued her meds last didn't look to see what she was already on. All I have heard about the "doctors" in Yerington is nothing good. What happened to my mom is only proof. Anyone who wants to live, I highly recommend re-considering being two hours out in the middle of nowhere. Especially in Yerington with Yerington "docs."

Bremerton, WA

On Bremerton - 4/9/2011
Bremerton still is not a great place to live. As a matter of fact, if you can avoid it, I would suggest it. It is dirty and unkempt. The Brem Revitalized review must have been written by someone working for the City in the tourism area. Actually, now that I see the "mayor" statement at the end lol. The only good things about this place is it is a short drive or ferry ride to Seattle - if you like that; Driving to the Olympic Mountains is a decent drive around a couple hours to some of the spots in the Eastern Olympics i.e. the areas of Lake Cushman, Staircase, Lilliwaup; and the hiking trails are beautiful out that way. But you have to drive a ways to find any decent trail or river. There is water here, but I wouldn't say it's a water sports haven. People do kayak out on the water..not sure what else. The water here is dirty (large shipyard), has no sand (small rocks, tons of broken clamshels...and lots of bird poo from the seagulls). The lakes are no different. Dirty, very small area of well used/travelled sand, and lots of ...bird pooo (geese or something on every lake here). I do remember on one of my explorations here seeing people scuba diving but I'm pretty sure it was for clams (out by Lilliwaup). I don't hear about scuba diving for the scenery out here. There is some art downtown (but not a "metropolis." I've never seen any "glorious" parks around here or trust me I'd be hanging out there once in a while to relax with a cup of Joe. It seems they are trying to revive Bremerton downtown, but the dirtiness of the rest of Bremerton, the drugs, and the lack of anything beautiful makes it ok. I don't see anything cool about a Mother's Day celebration at a conference center. All you can eat pig-out or not. Not at all cool. I was on my way home from the gym the other night and had to stop at the store and decided to stop at a Safeway I'd never been to. I was in there not two minutes and I could point out a handfull of druggies, two that were high, and a crazy person screaming at a wall in front of the store. There are too many dirty trashy people here. I can't wait to get the heck out of this place. There is absolutely nothing to do in Kitsap County or dirty Bremerton for that matter. Kitsap County blows. Going to Seattle eventually gets old, and who wants to drive 2+ hours every weekend to have something to do. Need a job and want to work on a ship? Guess that's one reason to come here.
