Amazing Place! -
5/24/2019If you notice in the information provided by BestPlaces.net, the cost of Living is low here. This means the people in Derry will enjoy life more. You have more money to spend on the "extras" in life, like travel, vacations, more expensive cars, whatever makes you happy. This low cost of living is also optimal for young families. The lower cost of living allows for one parent to spend more time attending to children and work outside the home less. Studies have shown this is optimal for stable, thriving children. Derry has much to offer families from great pizza, to open spaces, to a school district voted "Best school to watch" for its strides in education and focus on the children. The community has a swimming pool which is half the price for a seasonal pass as other local community pools. Like to swim in winter - no problem! Derry boasts of an indoor pool open to the public in the school! Derry is packed full of history, from architecture to American Indians. Nature trails for walking, biking and hiking. I can guarantee you if all the other things mentioned don't make you fall in love with this little town, the views will! Nestled t the base of Chestnut Ridge - the ever changing scenery is amazing, fall colors are stunning, snow scenes look like they are out of a past card! Give this little town a chance! You won't regret it.

Derry has made great strides to accommodate for the shift in economy which has impact them, as well as, many small towns across the USA. The farm land in this area is the greatest I have ever seen and the sense of community and neighborly generosity is everywhere you turn. "Everyone knows your name." The Median income here is higher than neighboring cities/town indicating this is the best place to be when you want to relax and enjoy the scenery. Derry Area School District was voted one of the "Best Schools to Watch" for their strides in education and focus on the children. As far as real estate, you get a lot more for your dollar here. Beautiful Victorian homes in town - sprawling yards and farms of all sizes just outside of town. Entrepreneurs, there is ample opportunity and space for development near town. A site has recently been prepared for a new industry and invitations are ready to be sent! Bring your business here! Business in the borough can enjoy an amazing tax break! Derry is also home to Keystone State Park recreational area for camping, biking, fishing, hiking, swimming, etc. numerous trails for walking or biking. An abundance of history! Historical architecture. Great Food. Amazing views! This is one of the greatest little towns anyone could live in.
