Can't Wait Till Spring! -
8/22/2023After spending some time in North Idaho we decided to settle down in Saint Maries. It's a reasonable commute to Coeur d'Alene for my husband where he found a job as a night manager so there's no traffic on his way home. I think we overall got an OK deal on our home considering that it has a few acres, but we really want horses and to do the whole homesteading thing so we made the leap, and so far so good! We go to a church in town where everyone has been very welcoming, and there is a lady at one of the grocery stores that, I'm not sure if she knows that we've never known each other, ha, ha. I can't wait until next spring cuz it's very green here. Recommend getting some acreage and farming if you can. Many people here aim for that lifestyle so I feel very lucky. I changed my CA plates too asap, lol, but I also let people know that I'm not here to try and change things but that I want to be a part of the community and will keep it nice the way it is.

8/22/2023Not sure what people are disagreeing with. Fact, it's very green. How can you dispute that when it's literally surrounded by national forest, and it's also obvious on a map. Maybe you had better luck with Airbnb but I'm also just sharing my personal experience.

7/12/2023I would love to visit. I'm from a small town in Northern CA and want to stay within a population of a couple thousand, and I've heard Northern Idaho has nice small towns that are very green and clean and acreage is still affordable. Do you have any recommendations?

Great museums, lots of history -
7/12/2023Visited on and off over the years. It is actually green in the surrounding areas, right in town it lacks good green planning. Being so close to Carson and Tahoe, obviously I would chose Toahoe if I had to live in either BUT if you are able to visit or stay in the rural areas nearby you'll get a jackpot of beauty and peacefulness. Nevada has a lot more to offer than California in general in my opinion just because since it's better managed, and Carson City is a must go to at least once because of it's history. I've also visoted Vegas and Reno, but will not be reviewing becaise I have little good to say about those places. Carson City is another matter, definitely recommend! Very good museums too.

Very Green -
7/10/2023Nice small town, very green, it's in the Idaho Panhandle surrounded by National Forest so I had a hard time finding rental units outside of town. Reserve Airbnb a few weeks out.

7/10/2023Sssh.... sorry, we are closed :) Kidding, but it's a lovely place I stayed for about 5 years before moving to Idaho. Winters can be tough, very green.
